Snow Day!!!

so the kids come home from school thursday.......
"mom,school's cancelled tomorrow!"
"ya, whatever."
"no, really mom, there is NO school!!"
"nice try, it's not even snowing, and we probably won't even get that much....don't get your hopes up."
"honest mom, they announced it over the intercom at school this afternoon!!(sounding desperate now that i believe them)....it was too late in the day to send a note home with everybody, so they just announced it~for real mom!!"
"i think your teachers just want a snow day, since you guys haven't had one yet this season!"
"who cares why~we don't have school!!!"
"cool!"






yup, friday morning, we all slept in ~except for hubby, poor guy had to go to work in the wee hours of the morning:(
it snowed steady for most of the day,but it was NO storm here like they got in parts of the states~but hey, we'll take a snow day anytime!
the kids had a grand time out side~they were out so long, they were wet to the bone by time they came in!
so, me, on days like this i love just being home and cook'n up some
'comfort food'~ya know the kind that sticks to the ribs!
when i was a kid, my most favorite thing was my mom's home made pea soup~it's strange 'cause i hate peas....go figure!
i put on the peas to do their cook'n and they simmered sweetly all day~not quite all day~long enough for my to enjoy a bowl of it = happy girl;)....the kids, well... some happy, some not so happy:(

being the beautiful 'snow day' that it was, i wanted to capture some of it

the birds were out full glory 'cause hubby nicely filled the feeders to capacity.
i could sit & wacth God's beautiful little birds for hours!



meanwhile.....
in the house, i have ~from the hubby~ gorgeous spring flowers,a mixed pot of yet more of the wonderful work of our great God for us to enjoy!
