this place is amazing~a jewel in the inner city of welland, in which the mighty hand of God is at work!!
they help sooo many people, not just those who are struggling with teen pregnancy, but with those who have substance abuse, those who have suffered abuse in one way or another in their past, single parents living on social assistance etc.
'elihsa house'
they give support in sooo many ways, through sound biblical counselling, providing clients and their children with meals every week, providing all the necessary items for daily living, teaching parenting classes and many other services, all of which are Christ centred~pointing people in the right direction~the cross and their need for a Saviour!
this place is so important in our community, in reaching out to those who don't know the Lord, and helping them in the practical ways, yet feeding their hungry souls with the nourishing Word of God!!
to get our youth involved in this ministry, we do it in a practical way~food
as youth group we have now made 4 meals.
this meal was a bit different, since it wasn't lasagna...not that i have anything against lasagna~i love it ;)~ it just gets a little monotonous, making the same thing time & again!!
we only had about 45 min, so we had to be efficient!!
it's a 'make ahead' type meal to be cooked the next night
our menu this time:
~fresh garden salad
~cheesy scalloped potatoes
~broccoli ham roll-ups
~easy trifle
doesn't it sound mouth-watering?
maybe i just love food too much ;)~ok, i do, i admit it! so much so, that i made this exact meal for my family tonight...huge hit, by the way!!!
some of the senior boys 'show off' their spud peeling skills~hey, who let them in the kitchen anyway?!?
eryn chopping veggies for salad
dani checking the recipe again...gotta get it right!
ruth & mary~lynn digging in with both hands!
tyler & ben trying to figure out how the can opener works~huh?!?
helping caleb & ethan make the dessert, not eat it!
tawnya doing an amazing job on shredding the carrot(she's sooo photogenic!!)
that's right boys, you will have dish~pan~hands!
mr. kemper on floor cleanup
eryn, amy & mrs. coolen just chat'n while the boys washed up~hee hee
we all had a fun time in the kitchen~ a little loud at times for the senior catechism class going on right next door~oops!
the meal was done on time for it to be delivered.
no~one cut off any fingers...always a good thing ;)
it's always a good feeling helping those in need, sharing with others, not just food but the love of Christ!
