you remember...the christie antique show?
i.
love.
this.
show!
when the sun is shining and the skies are blue, it's such an awesome way to spend with your hunny (if he's game) to take in this huge show!
the show opens at 8am.
we arrive around noon....it's soooo busy!
they said that it took folks an hr to get into the park(from the road)first thing in the morning!!
the sun was shining and the skies were blue...for about an hour after we arrived.
then, the clouds blew in & the skies opened for a very brief downpour...just enough for some of the vendors to panic & cover their wares with plastic.
thankfully it was brief...not long enough for us to run back to the vehicle for an umbrella.
once the clouds blew away, we meandered about looking for that one fab find!
many items & trends are the same from year to year, but this year i saw some new trends that are making their way into our homes.
there seemed to be a lot of this!
also, many vendors had these...
yep, antlers or deer/moose themed things...
they are the rage right now!
another hot trend has gone to the dogs!!
they are cute, but pricey!
and, if i were of the catholic persuasion, i would have much to choose from...
brass & copper in every shape & size...
these always come in handy, especially for me!
in case you forgot what you look like, mirrors were a dime a dozen...
see the one with my version of a 'selfie'!?!
jackpot for the anglers out there...
equine love...
furniture is always a given, but this year, bright colours were trendy...
vendors pick up on new home trends and some duplicate this.
technically not antique, but they get away with it because it's made-to-look-old and what people are after...
i had to take a pic of this cute two seater...just because i have the same one :)~i found mine on kijiji
hmmmm...i wonder what they are asking for it??
whaaaaat???two HUNDRED & eighty five dollars???
HA!
i paid $30 for mine :D!!
my sweet kijiji find ;)
one vendor had some pretty neat lighters...all different shapes & sizes
but all these interesting items aside, we were on the hunt for a trunk.
yep, a trunk.
not just any trunk!
it had to meet certain specifications, for our oldest child.
she asked us last year already, to buy her a trunk.
well, that didn't happen.
so, this year we were hunting down the perfect trunk.
it needed to have a 'flat top' not a curved one, not huge but big enough for decent storage.
by 4pm we saw many trunks...a lot of vendors have them & the prices range from about $50 up to $400.
needless to say that it was a challenge to find one in our budget!
then, an hour before the show closes, i spy this...
it's a great size, flat top & price...$75.
totally do~able!
let's take a peak inside...
ya...that won't happen.
huh??
well, you see, it's like this...earlier in the day this trunk was displayed open, and then at some point during the day, someone locked it and no one knew where the key was!
i took a picture with my phone & sent it to eryn...and of course, she LOVED it!
soooo, wayne asked the guy if he's take $10 off the asking price since he'd have to get a lock smith to open it.
sold!
the fella gave us his contact info in case we find any 'treasures' inside that he was unaware of...
now, we lug this trunk to the loading/pick up area & i wait with the trunk while wayne walks the 10 kms away long way back to where we parked.
we got it home & after a bit (with the help of a lock smith!), got it open :)
any treasure to greet me, you ask?
only the overwhelming scent of moth balls...cough, cough!!
so, it sits open, airing out....in the garage :)!
yep, another great find at the antique show!
i'm already looking forward to next may :)
OORRRRRR....
if 'people watching' is your game, then this is the place to be!
i kid you not, you will see ALL sorts of fun, eccentric people milling about, enjoying the day!
one year we spotted Sarah Richardson with her design team & film crew taping for an episode of one of her shows
OR, if you just need a girls day out
who knows...
we may just run into each other there :)!
