i got some flowers yesterday from the hubs!
no, not because it was our anniversary on wed.
he bought them cuz i had an intense afternoon....

stuff like this happens to other people....but not me{or so i thought}.
i was shaking when i got home from work so i called my hubby to unload...poor guy, was so busy at work but, he patiently listened to me go on & on about what had just transpired in my day.

shall i tell you what happened?

well, i shall try & keep my story short
bear with me...

driving home from work, i had just picked up a few groceries and was enjoying the sun on may face.
window rolled all the way down, listening to some great tunes on a beautiful spring day!
the road i took home is  hilly, but a straight & nicely paved stretch of road.
as i was approaching one of these hills i could see about 1/2 a km in front of me a deer run across the road into a field.
it was around 1:30 in the afternoon...odd, because one doesn't usually see deer at this time of day!
anyway, i slowed right down cuz i immediately thought, where there's one, there's more!
sure enough, by the time i reached the base of the incline of this small hill, another deer scooted past me!
by now i am at a complete stop.
another deer flies past the front of me, and i look to the right & see yet another, coming out of the evergreens that are parallel to the road.
as he crosses in front of me, a red car coming from the opposite direction, crests the small hill and the deer slams with a mighty force right into the driver's door.
she never saw it coming...
literally, put up my arms to shield my self as i see the deer soar through the air, completing about 4 rotations, before landing in the field on the opposite side of the road.
the spray of debris hits my windshield and i feel it on my arms too as my window is down.....gross.
the car continues on slowly.
behind the red car is another vehicle, the driver's hand covering her mouth in horror at what she's just seen.
we look at each other...mirror reflection b/c my hand is covering my mouth in horror at what i've just seen as well.
she pulls over & i move off the road.
together we walk over to the red car, now stopped on the side of the road, to see how the driver is doing.
we are shocked at what we found...
the driver side window is gone as well as the passenger window, the driver side rear view mirror is laying in the front passenger seat and there is glass, deer hair and blood everywhere,
her eyes were closed and she murmurs....'please call for help'.
oh, i'm on it.
i race back to get my phone and dial 911.
the woman with me stayed with the lady in the car, but had a hard time because there was so much blood, so once i was done on the phone i stayed with the lady to keep her calm.
i just kept reassuring her that help was on the way. she was able to talk to me so i kept her talking till her husband showed up.
within minutes, the fire dept was there & blocked the road from oncoming traffic and so the paramedics could do their thing.
i was relieved to see that the lady was able to get out of her car & stand up while the paramedics cleaned all the glass & hair off her before she got into the ambulance.
after i gave my eyewitness account to the police, i told them that the deer was still alive, but bearly.
the officer got out his rifle & i showed him where to find the deer.

about an hour later i was home.
i thanked the Lord for His protection over me, that i was able to stop & not hit the deer and that the lady who did get hit wasn't more seriously injured, let alone killed.
life is fleeting and can change in the blink of an eye!

thus, the flowers.
