remembering....

5 years ago {december 5 2006}~ yesterday{tuesday} was the actual day, that my dear mother went home, to be in glory forever, with her Lord & Saviour.

there are soo many things i loved about her....

~her gentle spirit
~her smile
~her laugh
~her blue eyes
~her soft hands
~her always singing hymns & psalms
~her love for the Lord
~her tender heart for her grandchildren
~her love for me...i'm selfish .i know.
~her godly example to those who knew her
~her always having a kind word
~her great  fantastic cooking
~her perseverance during her trials
~her sense of humor
~her inner strength...received by grace
~her being always a ' gracious lady'
~her beauty

there are many more...

she taught me & i learned by example, however with my character & stubbornness, not all have 'stuck'.
she taught me :
~how to cook
~how to clean {this ones comes in handy!}
~sew {a course in 'home ec' at school helped too ;) }
~her love of plants
~basics of baking {by basics, i mean basics...she wasn't keen on baking & i'm not either!}

she always took the time to be with the grandkids & gave each one the special attention they needed.

 her handwriting was dear to me at the time of her passing.
it seemed as if i couldn't have enough items in her handwriting...i don't know why.
these were taken out of a book that was made for my nieces...

they read....

what do you want your grandkids to know about you?
"i want you to know that the Lord has been so good to me. whenever i was ill, He was there to help me. i know i will be with Him when this body dies. even though you will be sad at missing me you can be happy i am with the Lord. i look forward to having all of you & grandpa with me & the Lord Jesus, sometime in the future."
 what is your favorite verse or memory from church?
"hard to say. many have meant much to me. one outstanding is Isaiah 49:16a which means that God has 'tattood' me into His hands. He is always watching over me. this is the word which God applied to my heart with so much power more than 20 years ago, which assured me that i was really one of His beloved.  Psalm 46:1"(the text at her funeral)
 what makes you happiest about being a grandmother?
"sitting in church with my children & grandchildren beside me.  knowing that my grandchildren love the Lord. hearing you laugh and have a good time with your cousins playing 'restaurant' downstairs. treating your parents with respect & being polite to everbody."
this is how she lived.
she lived her faith.
she showed her love for God in her treatment of others, humbling self & putting other's needs ahead of her own.

i loved her deeply....
i miss her more deeply....
i do not wish her back....not to this sinful broken world full of hurt & pain.
she is in glory, with her Saviour, in perfect joy, peace & love!
always loving you mom & forever thankful that God gave me to you & you to me!
