barn board love....

for the past 3 years or so, i've been in luv with the rustic, vintage look of a door that rolls on an exposed track.

yep, a barn door.

this was my inspiration...
when we started the garage reno & put in the mud/laundry room, i knew the perfect spot to hang this kind of door.

the original barn board planks came from friends of ours, who's barn collapsed in a severe wind storm.
but, he salvaged some boards that were perfect for the job!

so many ideas running through my head...i just needed to get the hubs to see my vision!!
where to start?
but of course...pinterest!
the only problem...soooo many doors to choose from~sigh.
when i asked wayne to make me a door, he jumped at the chance hesitantly added it to his 'honey~do' list!!

the hubs first fulfilled to my request of putting a shelf up for the office
i had these stone corbels in the basement
(they use to be my living room for years~ugh...those square tiles were always crooked!!)

add a piece of barn board & voila...a shelf for the office
:)
the hubs does not like this shelf so much.
me, i like!
it's not matchy enough for him.
me, i'm not into 'matchy matchy'
my next thought was that the hubs make me a frame of said barn board.
this frame was to fit a large map that levi had gotten for his room a while back.
in this pic the walls look blue but in reality they are grey

next, he made the door.
the sliding barn door ~big smile!

drum roll please...

wait for it...

ta~dah!!!!

I.
AM.
TICKLED.
PINK!
the laundry room is done just about done~woot!
just need to hang a few do~dads & some finishing touches...and we're done :)
another detail that i've always liked are the farm house sinks.
see the farm house theme going on here?
the rustic clock i found at hobby lobby for a steal...can't resist a great clock on sale!
i have a few old windows that the hubs brought home for me, so he replaced the glass with mirror in this one.
oh, ya, i need to give the closet doors one more coat of paint...
i am loving all the room i have in this new space!
loads of room to sort laundry, put up my drying rack & best of all  have 5 kids come home from school & not trip over one another!
there is enough closet space for all the coats, shoes/boots & back packs.

so there you have it, my barn door dream come true, thanks to one handy hubby!
next on the 'honey~do' list...the kitchen, who knew.
(~you saw the plywood floor...enough said)

this one could take a while.
